TOUR DURATION: FULL DAY
DESCRIPTION
NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM TARANTO AND THE TWO SEAS: We will start this guided tour with a general introduction to Taranto’s history in order to make you understand the different areas of the city: this will be crucial information for the comprehension of the museum; we will then cross the spectacular navigable channel and dedicate the first part of the visit to Taranto National Archaeological Museum.
With its new exposition, the incredible archaeiological national museum Taranto will reveal the secrets of the city during Greek, Roman, and late antique periods; the priceless jewelry, vases and tombs hosted here, will bring us back to the myths and traditions related to the daily life and the rite of passage into the Underworld.
In the afternoon we will move to the boarding point where we will sail for about two hours in the first basin of the “Mar Piccolo”, then go towards the Punta Penna Bridge, admire the skyline of the mussels cultivations and on the way back, depending on the sea conditions, we will pass under the Swing Bridge to access to the Ionian sea and have an overview of the new city centre’s gorgeous waterfront.
